CIRCA, the leading international buyer of fine jewelry, diamonds and watches, announced its new partnership with the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) at a Generations of Strength luncheon held at the Friars Club in New York City on February 26.

To kick-off the partnership, CIRCA’s Acting CEO Mary L. Forté presented NOF Executive Director and CEO Amy Porter with a check for $25,000, to support NOF’s mission of preventing osteoporosis and broken bones and raising awareness for the importance of building strong bones for life. The donation is part of a broad program CIRCA initiated with NOF that also includes a unique fundraising platform, allowing NOF’s supporters to contribute to the organization through the sale of no longer worn jewelry.

“CIRCA is honored to support the National Osteoporosis Foundation, an organization that has made tremendous strides in the education and prevention of osteoporosis, helping millions of women lead happier, healthier lives,” said Mary L. Forté, CIRCA’s Acting CEO. “The alignment is a natural fit, and we are very excited to build on our initial gift by offering an innovative fundraising platform to NOF’s supporters.”

From today through the end of May, 2013, National Osteoporosis Awareness Month, CIRCA will donate 10 percent of the price of all jewelry purchased from clients who mention the NOF partnership, up to $100,000. Additionally, CIRCA will provide its expert buying services to NOF for private jewelry selling parties at CIRCA’s private offices across the nation or at NOF-sanctioned events, where supporters can sell jewelry to benefit NOF.

“We’re thrilled to partner with CIRCA and welcome the opportunity to offer our supporters a new way to contribute to our mission,” said Amy Porter, NOF Executive Director and CEO. “CIRCA’s generous contribution and the proceeds raised through jewelry sales and parties will advance our efforts to support those living with osteoporosis and protect future generations from the disease.”

“CIRCA and NOF are natural partners and I’m delighted to be part of their joint effort to raise awareness for osteoporosis,” said Barbara Hannah Grufferman, NOF’s Bone Health Ambassador. “Together we can make a difference in the lives of millions at-risk for osteoporosis by educating them on the disease and inspiring them to take action to prevent it.”

Tuesday’s kickoff luncheon also treated 75 distinguished attendees to MORE magazine’s Fashion Features Editor, Susan Swimmer, who offered her expert advice on spring fashion trends. Relying on decades of experience writing about women’s interests, including fashion and pop culture for titles such as More, Marie Claire and Ladies’ Home Journal, Swimmer also offered her advice for spring cleaning – going beyond the home and into the closet and jewelry box.

“An updated wardrobe tells the world you’re smart, savvy and confident, but more importantly your clothes and jewelry are the chic, stylish, flattering wrapper to what’s inside, which we all know is what really counts,” added Susan Swimmer.

In addition to the February luncheon, CIRCA will sponsor NOF’s Board of Trustees dinner at their Interdisciplinary Symposium on Osteoporosis on Wednesday, April 17 in Chicago and NOF’s 6th Annual Generations of Strength Luncheon on September 30 in New York City.
