Mr. Tilles started his career buying and selling antique jewelry and diamonds in New York City’s diamond district nearly 30 years ago. "At that time, there were auctions, pawn shops and maybe your local jeweler if you wanted to sell your diamonds and jewelry,” Tilles says. The potential reach of the Internet sparked the idea to advertise nationally and purchase diamonds and estate jewelry directly from the public. CIRCA was created to provide the same luxurious experience to sellers that they may have received as buyers of jewelry, years prior. But it was the appeal of a personal and private transaction that would make the business a success. “Within a few years, we had opened up four additional locations.
